Martin Flaherty is the Founder and Co-Director of the Leitner Center for International Law and Justice at Fordham University Law School. Professor Flaherty has been engaged as a visiting professor at multiple U.S. and overseas universities. In addition to his role at Fordham, he is also currently teaching at the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and Columbia Law School. Professor Flaherty has been advocating on behalf of endangered lawyers for decades: he led and participated in numerous human rights missions abroad focused on assessing and protecting the rule of law in Turkey, Hong Kong, Mexico, Malaysia, Kenya, Romania, and China, and founded the City Bar Task Force for the Independence of Lawyers and Judges. In addition to serving as President of the AAICJ, Professor Flaherty serves as Vice Chair of the Committee to Support Chinese Lawyers, is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, has served as Chair of the Council on International Affairs of the New York City Bar Association.
